Under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Director of Maintenance and Engineering (D.M. & E.), the candidate will perform the following duties:

  • Assess and respond to external and internal engineering requests.
  • Assist in the development of commercial proposals by providing technical information, when required.
  • Develop design documents that demonstrate compliance with the appropriate regulations.
  • Design electrical and avionics systems in collaboration with D.M. & E.
  • Verify and approve technical documents and drawings produced by the engineering team (E.O., FMS, ELA, W&B, ICA, MMS, MEL).
  • Provide the required drawings and documentation for production and installation within the required time frame.
  • Provide technical support on designs for the installation and modification of avionics systems.
  • Carry out technical research as required (AMM, AIPC, WDM, CMM, IM).
  • Document and obtain formal customer approvals for additional requests.
  • Identify required equipment needs and liaise with vendors to present recommendations.
  • Evaluate quotes from engineering subcontractors.
  • Participate in certification programs and liaise with design approval organizations.
  • Manage and mentor engineering team to augment knowledge and skills.
  • Review/redact engineering documentation as required.
  • Report on opportunities and incidents and propose actions to improve procedures and processes.
  • Demonstrate leadership by initiating and supporting activities to promote innovation to ensure the company stays up to date on industry demands and obligations to remain competitive.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Diploma in Avionics Enginering.
  • Minimum 5 years avionics experience.
  • Mastery of CARS at the certification level (STC).
  • Knowledge of TSO, AC, ARINC.
  • Bilingual French/English (Advanced).
  • Proficient in MS Office and Autocad software.

Assets:

  • Experience with aircraft system interfaces.
  • Project management experience.
  • Technical writing experience.
  • Experience working in an environment with Quality Assurance system AS9000 or ISO 9001.
